I'm stuck mid way thru installing the newest driver for my Officejet Pro 7720 connected to my Mac via USB  and that's running OS 15.4.1. The actual installation for the printer and the scanner were successful but as I advanced thru the prompts, HP asks what my primary use is for. I the selected "for a home based business" and it won't let me click the CONTINUE button because there is a little entry field that needs to be filled in but there is NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER as to what information HP is looking for in regards to this entry field. It seems to only accept number, not letters but no clue as to what it's asking for. Anyone else experience this crazy issue and know what's needed here so as to move on to the next frame and complete the process?

@mailed, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
This issue with the HP Easy Start installer on macOS 15.4.1 for the OfficeJet Pro 7720 is known and has been reported by other users as well. The problem arises during the setup when selecting “For a home-based business”, which triggers a numeric-only field with no label or instructions, preventing you from continuing.

Here's how to resolve it:

Option 1: Bypass the Field

  1. When you reach the screen asking for your primary use:
    • Select “Home” instead of “Home-based business.”
    • This option does not trigger the mysterious numeric field.
    • You can proceed with the installation without any issues.

Option 2: Use HP Easy Admin or Direct Driver Download

If you prefer not to use Easy Start or it continues to misbehave:

  1. Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Search for OfficeJet Pro 7720.
  3. Select macOS as your operating system.
  4. Download the full feature software or HP Easy Admin tool.
    • HP Easy Admin allows you to install drivers without the marketing survey screens.

Option 3: Install via Apple AirPrint (if applicable)

If you're using the printer over Wi-Fi:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + button to add a printer.
  3. Select your OfficeJet Pro 7720.
  4. macOS may automatically use AirPrint, which supports basic printing and scanning.

Additional Tips:

  • Make sure your macOS is fully updated.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable if the printer is not detected.
  • Restart the HP Easy Start app after force quitting it if it freezes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
