Sorry for the late response. It works on all my other devices.

I think I can pinpoint a "cause".

I took my printer and hooked it up to my PC through USB. I installed the drivers through HP's site. Failed. But now it gives me a reason. Something about C:\WINDOWS\inf\ntprint.inf being missing. How did it go missing when it's worked since I got it on this PC with no issue until now? I dunno.

Could this be causing my issues? Maybe. However, I don't know how to fix this. I looked it up on HP's site, it just shows me an outdated tutorial for Windows XP.

I copied ntprint.inf from a working PC to my main, didn't fix the driver is unavailable issue. Installing through USB doesn't even do anything. It says "hey your device is installed" but in reality it's not. Printer doesn't show up anywhere. Trying to print something and it says it's not installed. HP Smart doesn't see the printer. Opened the shortcut added of my printer on my desktop, brings up an installation prompt, it doesn't detect anything.  This is ridiculous.

I found a log of driver installs, C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log. This was when I was trying to install over the network. Don't know if it means anything.

I don't know what to do. I've tried everything. Literally everything. Nothing has worked. I cannot contact support. I've tried. They either hung up or wanted me to pay $200 for support. That's not happening.

Alright, got some progress.

I extracted the EasySmart exe, found the drivers and installed them through device manager. I do not have the driver is unavailable error. However, I couldn't print over the network. Nothing happens. Checked the printer queue, it says "error - printing". I plugged my printer in through USB, and that works flawlessly.

I ran the Print and Scan doctor, it found an update, told me to restart. After that it said everything's good. Tried printing a test page, it worked. Printing mostly works now. However, HP Smart is not working now. It says my device isn't fully installed, and despite me clicking install multiple times and it saying it's been completed, it still keeps showing up.

Ran the print doctor again, it tells me that some driver files are missing. I installed the drivers through HP's website, still not working with HP Smart. Print doctor still says some driver files are missing. I uninstalled whatever it wanted to uninstall, rebooted. HP Smart still has the error. Uninstalled/reinstalled, didn't work. Now there's an extra offline printer in HP Smart, but it's not really offline since I was just able to print over the network. I don't know what's up.

I uninstalled the working printer selection or whatever, rebooted, then installed the drivers through HP Smart. It was a success, however yet again I cannot print. Immediately errors out.

At least we're getting somewhere.

Hi @ENunn ,

Try to install with the following driver >> Officejet 8035 - basic driver for Windows 10

Then restart the computer and try again.

Sorry for the late reply.

After a few weeks of dealing with this nightmare, my issue has finally been solved.

My solution is a weird one, so give it a shot.

1. Install the printer like normal, let it fail.

2. Download the latest HP EasyStart drivers.

3. Don't open the .exe directly, use WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the file.

4. Go into the Device Manager.

5. Look through the device list, you might find something that says "unknown device". That is most likely the printer. Right click it, and select "Update Driver".

6. Click "Browse my computer for drivers".

7. Click browse, and find where you extracted the exe. Make sure you have it pointed to the Driver folder.

8. Let it install.

9. Reboot if it asks you to, or reboot after the install just to be safe.

10. The drivers should be successfully installed, however you might not be able to print over the network. Mine kept insta-failing. If that's the case, run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. After running it, I was finally able to print something.

Hope it works for y'all. If it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you.
