As many of you, I've been working on this for about two weeks. Learned a lot but can't fix the problem. Have a new HP Envy 6455e printer. I'm on a wireless private local area network. Two PC's, one Laptop and a printer(my new one). After the first install one PC and the Laptop worked just fine. Printing, scanning, etc. My PC showed 'driver is unavailable'. It's been that way for two weeks. When I run HP Smart and run a test like 'Wi-Fi Network Test', I can press their print results button and it works. Then I'll go right to a Word document and try to print it and it will not print.
I have researched online and tried many suggestions, but nothing has worked. Probably over 20..... I've been verified, synced everything, removed and reinstalled till I'm blue in the face. I've changed IP address, DSN's and so on. Probably something easy to fix, but I need help finding it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
So as I understand, only one of the PC's is facing an issue?
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thanks for getting back to me. Tried your instructions, but still came up with 'driver is unavailable'. Here is a little more information that might be useful? While in Settings>Devices >Printers & Scanners; I press the button to add a printer or scanner. My choice is usually HP399E44 ENVY 6400 series' or something close. I highlight it and click add printer. What I get back about 20 minutes is 'HP399E44.hsd1.wa.comcast.net (HP ENVY 6400 series)' and next line says 'Driver is unavailable'. Hope this helps.

Update:
The 'HP399E44.hsd1.wa.comcast.net (HP ENVY 6400 series)' issue is not a problem. Sorry about that.
Tried to reinstall again this morning - had the same results. Everything seems to go smooth until the very end then, it stops for about 20 minutes. After nothing I get the 'unavailable' message. I'll keep trying and send you updates if I find anything.
Thank you,

Hi BETTY0610,
Same results as before 'driver is unavailable'. I did see something that might help. After the install I went to the Embedded Web Server (EWS). Selected the 'HP Network Configuration Page'. Along with the details you have the option to print. When I press the PRINT button, it prints off fine. Then, I go to MS WORD and try to print off a document and find the printer is not in the selection box. Therefore, no printing. Hope this gives you a little more information.
Thank you,

Let's create a TCP IP port:
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
This video resource will show you how to do it:

Hi Betty0610,
Sorry for the delay. Spent time with HP support two days ago. After 3 hours of hard work they could not make it work. Same old problem 'driver is unavailable'. They elevated the problem to the next level. Yesterday got a call from HP support in India. This individual was really good and worked for about 2 hours to fix the problem. He was not able to fix it, but determined it was a problem with the printer.
Therefore, I will be receiving a new printer in the few days. Once I get the printer I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you,
DELTABCO

Hi,
I am having the same problem. It says "Driver unavailable" on my Windows 10 computer. I tried everything like removing, cleaning tools, HP scan doctor, all steps with chat with virtual assistant of HP and rebooting. I even downloaded every HP software what I could find. I use HP Smart. It just doesn't work. The printer works on my mobile phone, my Windows 10 laptop and Mac laptop. Just only not on my desktop.
I tried to search everywhere on Google and it is always the same steps. There is a issue with drivers from the printer I think but I can't narrow down what the problem exactly is which makes the driver unavailable on 1 desktop specifically .
Is there a solution for this?

Hello Bayrambass,
I feel your frustration. Similar set up: local private Wi-Fi network; two pc's; one laptop and the new printer. The printer works fine with my wife's pc and the laptop. I have a 3 month old Dell XPS that does not work with the printer. Been trying to solve the problem by myself for about 2 - 3 weeks. A few days ago I called HP support spent 2 hours and were not able to fix the problem. Next day received call from level 2 support. After 2 hours same results. Next day got a call from level 3 support. Worked for 2 hours, could not fix it. Note: Their level of effort and skillset was outstanding. Also, level 3 support was a 4 person team.
Anyway the conclusion was that there is a problem inside of Windows 10. Their reasoning was sound, but I didn't take notes. Today or tomorrow I'll call Microsoft support to work it from their side. HP level 3 support have made themselves available if needed.
Will not be getting a printer replacement from HP. That's fine. Hopefully in the next few days the problem will be fixed. I'll let you know how it goes.
