Hi Deltabco,
This is exactly what I thought. Something wrong with I think the Windows Kernel Driver blocking to install the driver for HP. I saw a message that HP will be giving printers but that's not really the case.
Let me know how it goes. I will also try to get to the source of this problem.

I found the solution! Atleast it worked for me.
I am a Bitdefender user but it can apply to other antivirus/firewall softwares aswell if you use one. The big problem is the firewall.
- Log in to GravityZone Control Center.
- Go to Policies and select the the policy applied to the affected endpoint(s).
- Go to Firewall > Settings.
- In the Adapters section, under the Network Discovery column, set all adapters to Yes
- Click Save.
- Go to Firewall > Rules.
- Set the Network Printing rule to Allow under the Permission column
- Click Save.
- If you are using a wireless network to connect to the printer please add the Internal network as Home/Office.
- Go to Firewall > Settings
- Under the Networks section, add your wireless network details:
- Name - a custom name to better identify it in the list
Network/Profile - select Home/Office
Identification - select Network
IP - insert the IP and the mask that better describes your network addressing scheme.
For example, if your network addresses start from 192.168.1.1 and end at 192.168.1.254, type in 192.168.1.0/24.
Click the Add button.
Check the same way for your own antivirus settings or in cloud WEB UI settings. Or check the Windows Firewall settings if it is all set correct for network printing. This was the solution for me and I could print and scan without problems.

Hello Bayrambass,
Thank you for the suggestions. I looked at Bitdefender and GravityZone. Impressive software, but the level of sophistication and cost is more than I need. I took your thoughts on activate network discovery; allow network printing; and add details of my wireless network then, go back through Windows Defender Firewall to make that work. Spent two days trying a lot of things, but could not make it work.
Yesterday, sent an email to HP Support to find out what my options were. Like, can I get my money back? Within 15 minutes got a call back from tech support. Within an hour she fixed my problem. The first 45 minutes were spent doing the normal checks they all do with the same result 'driver is unavailable'. At this point she indicated she knew what was wrong and had to use a specialize app that would fix the problem. Anyway, the app was downloaded, installed, executed, and completed in about three minutes. Since then the printer has worked fine. I do not know what the app was or what she did, but everything is working great.
Today, I don't know what to do with myself.....
Thank you for your input.

Hi, I am also curious what this tool does. But I forgot to mention in my steps that you need to force the changes within the firewall and reinstall the HP software and printer. But glad it all worked out ok!

I JUST BOUGHT this Envy 6455e printer (just a couple hours ago - which is how long I've been trying to get it to work...) and I CANNOT get it to work with Windows 10 on a laptop. Can't even get it installed!!! This really is insane. How many more decades will it take for software engineers to get the printer thing working? And to think - I felt good when buying it due to (multiple!) reviews talking about how easy it was to set up. This is absolutely, intolerable, unbelievable, and even shameful - especially from HP.

Hello PapaBaer,
I feel your pain. I to purchased an ENVY 6455e and struggled to get it up and running. I spent a lot of time trying to fix the problem myself. Although frustrating, I enjoyed the process and I had the time. I was not able to fix the problem by myself, so contacted HP Support. It took several sessions, but they got the job done. I'm sure they have tools we don't have access too, so it's an advantage to work with them. The ENVY 6455e has been working great since being fixed. Actually, its better than I expected. The print quality and speed is impressive. I hope you can get yours fixed.
Anyway, if I can help I'll be glad to try. If your issue is something like my problem: 'driver is unavailable' then you probably want to go with HP Support.
Best Wishes,
Deltabco
