macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I just got a new computer and I'm wondering if there is a driver that will work with my old printer HP Deskjet 6564. I downloaded the driver from the HP website but my computer is not recognizing it.

Thanks

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

As per this document, HP Deskjet 6540 Printer is compatible with macOS 10.13 High Sierra and the driver is available via Apple Software Update. You may use the steps below to add a compatible driver:

1.) Use the steps available here to update the software on Mac.

2.) Connect the printer to Mac using a USB cable.

3.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

4.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

5.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

6.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

7.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select the name of your printer in the Use menu

8.) Try to print.

Let me know how it goes!
