HP Deskjet 3632
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Sorry I initially posted this in the wrong place.

Can anyone help?.I had an update from Windows 10 and since my Printer does not work it kept coming up with a new install for Hp Smart. I have tried everything mentioned. I have re-installed Hp smart and it can see the printer ,shows ink levels etc but will install or print. I downloaded Hp doctor and it ran through all the procedures and came up with (No Driver Available), I even clicked on the link that was to with lates windows updates but made no difference.  so I now have a printer that work perfect until updating.  Help!

Printer is a Hp Deskjet 3632 which is normally set up wireless.
I have just tried my Smart phone and Tablet and they work fine,so its only my laptop,if there is no easy fix I can manage.

Printer Software Check

Notes

If the full driver printer software is installed, you will see the printer listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features.

In addition, the installed software places two shortcut icons on the Desktop named for the printer.

Programs_and_Features_Printer_Desktop_Icons_2Programs_and_Features_Printer_Desktop_Icons_2

Printer software not installed?

Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

For printers that support the option,

Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start
  • Open Category Software and Drivers
  • Topic: Software-Utility
  • Download-and-Save  the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software
  • If using USB:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
  • If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey

  1. Full Administrator Rights are required to complete the HP Software installation.
  2. About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).
  3. You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.
  4. If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription.  Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.
  5. Full driver includes print and scan functions supported by your printer and provides the printer features on which other applications / software might depend.

The results you posted mention not the HP printer but instead a Brother printer.

Not the same animal.

If you had - and no longer have - a Brother printer,

Check in Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

If you see the Brother printer > Right-Click on the Brother printer > Remove

If I have anything else to offer, I will post back.

I have never had a Brother comptuer and none are listed ,there are no Drivers or Printers listed for HP. but thanks for trying.

Hi again,I think the brother Printer is maybe a neighbours, its not listed anywhere as a printer on my Laptop,so I think I can remove that report from the analyst. Anyway Ill check back from time to time to see if any other ideas are forthcoming, hopefully something simple.in the meantime ill use my Tablet if I need to print. good old Windows strikes again?

Thanks for your help. I got as far as Installing the printer again but it kept coming up with error!

I unistalled it yet again, but this time I did not use HPsmart as I do not need an app.

Windows gave me the choice of using the default Driver (Recomended) or replacing it,this time I replaced it, and Wallah it works perfectly its now showing as my printer and prints, which is all I wanted.

What a carry on that was, anyway sorted,Thanks again for your time . 😎

All I need now is find out how to create the shortcuts for my desktop i.e. Printer & Scanner,so if you can help further it would be appreciated.

@Tiger366

You are welcome.

Yes, this is the Full Driver mentioned in an earlier post.

Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

  • Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
  • About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).

Shortcuts

Installing the Full Driver -

The Shortcuts to the Printer Assistant and HP Scan should have been added to the Desktop as shown in an earlier post.

I can certainly show you how to create a shortcut icon on the Desktop.

My concern is that the installation of the software did not do so.  ??

Desktop Shortcut for HP Scan

Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\

Open the folder for your printer > Click / Open the Bin folder

Example Path (different printer)

C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series\bin

Right-Click on HPScan.exe > Send to  > Desktop (create shortcut)

Additionally / Alternatively

Right-Click on HPScan.exe

Pin to Start

Pin to Taskbar

=======================================================

Add Printer Assistant Shortcut to the Desktop

Example Shortcut target content for Printer Assistant

"C:\Program Files\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series\Bin\HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage

How to create HP Support Assistant Shortcut

Open File Explorer

Navigate to the bin folder in which the printer software executable is located

For example

C:\Program Files\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series\Bin

Right-Click on the executable for the printer, for example HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series.exe

Send to Desktop (create the shortcut)

On the Desktop, Right-Click on the new shortcut > Properties

At the end of the line entry in “Target” add the following words:  -Start UDCDevicePage

Click Tab General

OPTIONAL – Change the name of the shortcut

For example,

Remove the default entry / name HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series.exe – Shortcut

And enter a new name, for example: Printer 9020

If you like, change the shortcut icon to one of your own icons or one of those available on the system

Tab Shortcut > Change Icon >

Click through the error (no icons found)

Select from the standard list OR Browse through your custom icon collection

Select an icon

Click OK to save the changes

What else?

Job / Task Shortcuts can be created inside the Printing Preferences and inside the Scan Menu to help manage different job types.

Example

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click Printer > Printing Preferences

Example - Printing Preferences - Main Menu / Options

9025_Printing_Preferences_Media_Types_99025_Printing_Preferences_Media_Types_9

Example - HP Scan - Main Menu

9025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_49025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_4
