The print preview works great... I can also print to PDF perfectly... But when I try to print either direct, or if I try to print the PDF, it fails to print as displayed on the screen.  It is clearly a problem with the driver.  Some objects print correctly but in the wrong place.  Some objects are missing.  

 

It used to work on another computer I had, but since upgrading my computer, HP's printer installation tool installed the "HP LaserJet 200 color M251 PCL 6" driver.... Even in the troubleshooting it says, (paraphrased), "yeah, this driver sucks and may not work with everything."  And then the page provides a broken link to what they claim are different drivers to install (link from https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/5097632/document/c03407637 to broken link http://www.hp.com/support/ljcolorm251series)....

 

So, the virtual assistant is useless, and can't understand when you tell them their website is broken.... 

 

Googling print drivers for the printer gives you https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-200-color-printer-m251-series/50976..., which doesn't appear to offer any alternative drivers.

 

Does anybody have a link to a driver that actually works?

Hi,

Try installing the HP Universal Print Driver and check:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL40842/ds-99374-23/upd-pcl6-x64-6.9.0.24630.exe

 

While installing, be sure to select Traditional Mode and then follow the Add Printer Wizard.

 

When you should select a port, select the same port as listed for your existing print queue.

To locate it go to Start > Settings (the Gear icon) > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Left-click your printer once and select Manage, select Printer Properties and open the Ports tab, the checked port listed in here should be used.

 

Once the HP UPD installation completes, access its Printer Properties, open the Device Settings tab and change the Mode from Automatic to Color.

 

May you see any difference?
