It's frustrating that HP is still not supporting Windows11 on ARM. When will I get working drivers for my new laptop running Windows11 on ARM? Shall I go to another printer company?

Hi @Frank640
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The challenge of getting drivers for Windows 11 on ARM architecture is a common concern as not all manufacturers have updated their drivers to support this newer setup, especially for specific peripherals like printers.
For your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, here are some steps you can consider:
Check HP’s Website for Updates: Regularly check the HP support page for your printer model to see if new drivers compatible with Windows 11 on ARM have been released.
Universal Print Driver: HP offers Universal Print Drivers that sometimes work across different printer models. You might want to try using the HP Universal Print Driver to see if it provides basic functionality for your printer.
Windows Update: Ensure your Windows 11 is up-to-date, as Microsoft sometimes rolls out generic updates that can improve compatibility with legacy devices.
Compatibility Mode: If possible, attempt to install the printer's existing driver using compatibility mode for an older version of Windows, though this is less likely to work on ARM processors.
Given that ARM-based machines are becoming more prevalent, it is possible HP would release necessary drivers in the future. Following the above steps can optimize your chances in the meantime. Keep in touch with HP's official updates and community forums for any announcements.
If the problem persists, consider reaching out to HP Support directly for more detailed assistance with your particular system configuration.

The HP Smart UPD offers ARM based drivers. While the 283 is not officially listed as supported, I have used the Smart UPD drivers with many products successfully and in my opinion you have nothing to lose other than the time it takes to install.
