Hi @Amieoleary
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your HP computer is displaying a "drivers unavailable" message when you're attempting to reinstall, it could be due to outdated or missing drivers.
Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
Use HP Support Assistant:
- HP Support Assistant is a tool available on HP computers that helps keep your system up to date with the latest drivers. You can launch it from the Start menu, the taskbar, or by searching for it.
- Once opened, you can check for updates by selecting the "Updates" tab. It will search for and install available driver updates.
Visit HP’s Official Website:
- You can manually download drivers by visiting HP’s official support site and entering your product model number. You can find this on a label usually located on the side of your PC case or the packaging.
- Download the appropriate drivers and install them on your device.
Use Windows Update:
- Ensure your operating system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."
Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting it from the list.
- Locate the device with the unavailable driver, right-click on it, and choose "Update driver." Then select "Search automatically for updated driver software."
Reinstall the Device:
- Sometimes uninstalling the device and restarting your computer can help. In Device Manager, right-click the problematic device and select "Uninstall device." Reboot your computer, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver.
Check for Missing or Corrupt Files:
- Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupt files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow.
Following these steps should help resolve the "drivers unavailable" issue on your HP computer.
