So just put that in the room, the printer software leaves a lot to be desired. Because for the 6700 at least setup via software is still possible, with the new 8135e this is no longer available, I don't think it's so good to adjust.

Well, "no full driver" could be true for latest MacOS --

I do not have any Mac systems - I do not keep up with the current software setups for MacOS.

To date

Supported versions of Windows

The full driver printer software is available.

True -

• The new full driver software is formatted differently than that of the old 6700.  There is no "fix" for that -- the software meets the requirements of the newer system.

• The supported Windows versions are limited.  There is no "fix" for that.  Older OS versions cannot support the newly formatted software.

• There is also a Universal Scan Software -

• If you install the full driver, you do not need to install the Universal Scan Software.
• The system will tolerate both HP Scan / HP Universal Scan being on the system at the same time.
• HP Scan / HP Universal Scan are essentially the same software.

This system does not support the HP Printer Assistant shortcut icon on the Desktop .

Look for / use the HP Scan Assistant .

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.

 Note:  Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

• Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
• HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model

OR

• HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
• HP Scan - Shortcut named for itself

AND / OR

• When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut
• NOTE >> If you install the full driver printer software, installing HP Universal Scan as a standalone software from category Software & Drivers is not necessary.  The system will allow you to install both.

Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
