I have the HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e. I am currently trying to print double-sided through the HP app, but it seems I am unable to—no matter what i try. Additionally, the HP app lists my printer at the 8130e. Could anyone help or guide me?

Hi @reioreos,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with duplex printing. Let's go through some steps to troubleshoot this issue with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that duplex printing is enabled in the printer settings. Go to the printer settings in the HP app and confirm that "Two-sided (Duplex) Printing" is selected.

Verify HP App Settings:

  • Double-check settings within the HP Smart App. Sometimes, the app might not correctly sync with the printer settings. Open the app, go to "Print Settings," and ensure "Two-sided printing" is enabled.

Ensure Firmware is Up-to-date:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is updated. Go to HP's support website for firmware updates specifically for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e.

Reconfigure printer in the HP App:

  • If the HP app is showing an incorrect model, try removing and re-adding the printer from the app. This might help to correct the model number and sync the correct settings.

Restart Devices:

  • Try restarting both your printer and the device running the HP app. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity and configuration issues.

Review Printing Preferences:

  • When sending a print job, check the printing preferences dialog to ensure "Two-sided printing" (or "Duplex") is selected as the print option.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
