Officejet 8620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am having a Third Party ink cartridge rejected by my printer so I am following instructions in https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8620-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5367611/docum...

to update the firmware to remove the Dynamic Security Feature

I downloaded firmware from https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/closure/hp-officejet-pro-8620-e-all-in-one-printer-...

Running OJP8620_1828A.exe but it says that the update is "Not applicable". It lists the printer with Version FDP1CN1910AR. I presume this is a later version of firmware so it is not updating. Is there a newer version of the firmware which has the Dynamic Security Feature removed?

Your printer has the newest version available 1910, the one downloadable from HP is 1828 and you can't downgrade.

How many non-HP you are having currently installed in your printer and how many of them are rejected?

If this is the issue is with the Dynamic Security Feature then you will be having this problem earlier with all non-HP installed cartridges. You are might having only defective cartridge, it happens.

I have never used Third party cartridges before.
I actually ordered some cartridges which were labelled "original" from a website, but they were clearly third party.
I did complain but...
I have been printing with Cyan cartidge low for a while but now it has run out so I thought I would try the third party cartridge. I immediately got the "older generation cartridge" error.

You should complain, especially if you paid the like they are originals. Now your printer will probably accept only originals, not sure that even downgrade to an earlier version that's available will help.

I would recommend you to contact your local HP support, explain to them what is your problem, and with current pandemic situation you are unable to drive around town to get originals and you need a printer to work from home.
