My apologies, this MAY be the second post on same question, but I'm desparate, I CANNOT PRINT!

Either the basic or the full web pack will NOT launch on Vista (sp2).

I do not suspect my exe stuff in regedit, even though I went thru it AND other exe files work fine!

What's crazy, it was running fine on my desktop Vista before the desktop failed.

Now on Dell laptop running same Vista SP2.

Help!

Any way to get the bare binaries so I can have windows install it?

PS: I tried both; usb AND via network. NO GO!

Hi @Skoutariotis, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @Barachiel, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned after trying out the steps you are getting an error 0X00000643 on your PC.

Uninstall the printer by using Network Explorer and install it back. To do this, follow these steps:
Open the Network and Sharing Center. To do this, type Network and Sharing Center in the Start Search box, and then click Network and Sharing Center in the Programs list.
In the Tasks pane, click View Computers and Devices.
Locate the printer, and then right-click the printer to uninstall it.
After the printer is uninstalled, connect the printer to the computer again. The Plug and Play service begins to install the printer.

Also, I suggest you create a new user account on your PC and install the printer software.

If the issue still persists try reinstalling the operating system on your PC and reinstall the software again.

Update the full feature printer software using this link: https://hp.care/2wwxEH7

@Skoutariotis

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community.

I reviewed the case regarding issues with installing printer software. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 😉

For better clarity and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:

Did you try any troubleshooting steps before contacting us? How long are you facing this issue?

For now please try these steps:

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Once done, follow this link https://hp.care/2k7K4Nb and install the full feature driver software. 🙂

If this doesn't help, Follow this document https://hp.care/2igKeU1 and try installing the windows built-in drivers.

This should do the trick for you. Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue.

The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. 😉

Thank you for the reply, MUCH appreciated!

I followed each step as directed, here's some notes on this. In short, it didn't work. Still unable to print.

1. I deleted the hp folder in the program files

2. I don all these  twice, the first time there was some hp stuff in the device manager, but neither time was there a printer in the printers folder. I delete all hp stuff in the device manager.

I noticed something new to me, the wsd stuff. I opened the driver and did notice the ip of the printer.

3. There was no HP products in the printui.exe

Interesting, the link you sent me has no drivers available, but going thru the website, selecting my printer, it took me back to same page where I originaly downloaded the full web pack.

Launchig it does nothing, thinks for a few seconds then nothing.

So, I tried the manual way (OS drivers). I tried with wired and usb, neither work. In the wired option it sees the printer ip and name, but in usb mode sees nothing.

In the wired mode it failes the installation with error 0X00000643, in the usb mode it has been pending for the past 6 hours. The system is setup to download needed OS drivers automaticaly.

Again, thank you for your help!

PS: I done a test, I can scan using photoshop via the usb, just wish I could print! EVERYTHING I do, requires printing!

And I can vew files on a flash drive when inserted.

FYI: I can print fine on my windows 10 laptop and my iphone 7 plus. And I was able to print on my now broken desktop running same Vista.

Looks like it was my OS. I got the hint when  another app refused to launch, same way. I upgraded to Windows 7, fixed the problem using the full web pack. Thank you!
