I have just set up a new HP Envy 6022 printer on my MacBookPro running OS14.5 but can't get it to print in colour on some applications such as Microsoft office and MacMail however it does print in colour when printing a test page a and pdf docs. etc.
In situations where I can't print in colour there doesn't appear to be any option to select a colour printing option.
I have set the same printer up on my wife's MacBook Air running OS13.6.7 but this doesn't have the same problem.
Any assistance or suggestions to resolve this issue would be much appreciated.

Hi @Greg4911,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6022 is not printing in color from certain applications on your MacBook Pro running macOS 14.5 but works fine with other documents and applications, it might be due to specific print settings or driver issues. Here are some steps to help resolve this problem:
Steps to Resolve Colour Printing Issues:
Check Printer Settings in the Application:
- When printing from Microsoft Office or MacMail, make sure to access the print dialog and check the print settings.
- In the print dialog, look for an option like "Copies & Pages" or "Layout" and find the "Color/Quality" section.
- Ensure that the "Print in Grayscale" or "Black & White" option is not selected.
Reset the Printing System:
- Resetting the printing system can often resolve many issues:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- This will remove all printers. Add the HP ENVY 6022 again by clicking the + button.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP ENVY 6022:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Search for your printer model and download the latest drivers for macOS 14.5.
- Install the drivers and restart your MacBook Pro.
Use AirPrint:
- Sometimes using AirPrint can resolve driver-specific issues:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove the current printer by selecting it and clicking the - button.
- Add a new printer by clicking the + button, select your HP ENVY 6022, and choose AirPrint as the driver.
Check Application-Specific Print Settings:
- Some applications have their own print settings:
- For Microsoft Office:
- Open the document you want to print.
- Go to File > Print.
- Click on Show Details (if available) to expand the print dialog.
- Check if there are any color settings within the application’s print dialog.
- For MacMail:
- Open the email you want to print.
- Go to File > Print.
- Expand the print dialog and look for color settings.
- For Microsoft Office:
Test with Another User Account:
- Sometimes, the issue might be related to the user profile:
- Create a new user account on your MacBook Pro.
- Log in to the new account and try printing from Microsoft Office or MacMail.
- If it works, the issue may be related to your original user profile settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
