The printer control panel used to display the various menu options when it was a USB connection to desktop computer, and wireless to all other devices (laptops and smartphones). Due to various false, but annoying driver error messages on desktop computer, I disconnected the USB cable, reset the printer, then reconnected printer with ethernet to router.
I downloaded, installed, and ran the HP app from desktop computer. Printer works, but the printer control panel is stuck on the "Set up with the app" screen. None of the suggested troubleshooting steps (which are just various ways of power-cycling the printer) resolve the issue.
I'm hoping there's a simple, but poorly documented step to resolve this without having to take printer to repair shop.
Thank you.

@ppeters914, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
