Hi @thiomas,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message OW_4XX_OWSWS00001 suggests there might be a problem with the printer's connection or registration process, possibly related to the firmware, network settings, or software compatibility. Here’s a step-by-step guide to address this issue:

1. Check Network Connection

  • Ensure Connectivity: Make sure your printer is properly connected to the network. Check if other devices on the same network can access the internet.
  • Reconnect the Printer: Try reconnecting your printer to the network. For wireless printers, you may need to re-enter the Wi-Fi credentials.

2. Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware

  • Download Latest Firmware: Go to the HP Support website and look for firmware updates for your OfficeJet Pro 8710. Download and install the latest version if available.
  • Firmware Update: Follow the instructions provided to update the firmware. Sometimes a firmware update can resolve registration issues.

3. Reinstall HP Printer Software

  • Uninstall Old Software: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and uninstall any existing HP printer software.
  • Download and Install New Software: Download the latest version of the HP Smart app or the full-featured driver from the HP Support website and install it.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Factory Reset: If power cycling doesn’t help, you may need to perform a factory reset. Check the printer's manual or the HP Support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

5. Verify HP Account and Printer Registration

  • Check HP Account: Ensure that you are logged into your HP account correctly. Sometimes issues with registration can be linked to account problems.
  • Re-register the Printer: In the HP Smart app or HP Connected, try re-registering your printer.

6. Check for System Compatibility

  • Compatibility Issues: Sometimes updates to Windows or BIOS can cause temporary incompatibilities. Ensure that your printer's software is fully compatible with Windows 11.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
