HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I selected MacOS12 as it is the closest match; I am running a beta Sonoma 14.0 OS. I can scan using Mac Image Capture, but it's a lot harder than Easy Scan. Please let me know when I can get an updated Easy Scan (or when Apple fixes the bug that broke back compatibility here).

Hi @deanlie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw scanner not producing any images when using Easy Scan on macOS Sonoma beta, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.

Check Scanner Connection: Ensure that your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw is properly connected to your Mac and turned on. Verify the USB or network connection is secure.

Update HP Software: Make sure you have the latest HP software and drivers installed for your printer. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers and software compatible with macOS Sonoma beta.

Restart Printer and Mac: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your printer and Mac can resolve scanning issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it (if applicable), and turn off your Mac. Then, turn everything back on and try scanning again.

Check for macOS Updates: Ensure that your macOS Sonoma beta is up-to-date. Apple may release updates that include bug fixes and improvements that could resolve scanner issues.

Verify Permissions: Check the permissions for Easy Scan and your scanner in macOS:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "Privacy" tab.
  • On the left sidebar, select "Scanner."
  • Ensure that "Easy Scan" or any scanning application you use has the necessary permissions to access the scanner.

Reset Printing System: Sometimes, resetting the printing system can help resolve scanner issues:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list on the left and select "Reset Printing System."
  • Re-add your printer by clicking the '+' button.

Use a Different Scanning Software: If Easy Scan continues to have issues, try using an alternative scanning software such as VueScan or Adobe Acrobat. These third-party applications may work more reliably with your scanner.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks -- I have both EasyScan and HP Smart working properly now. I'll use EasyScan, because it has the good support for 2-sided scanning.
