HP DJ3630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Not happy about this. Spent the last 3h googling and reading all the posts on this forum before giving in and making my own post.

I was sent here as apparently my just purchased via Amazon HP DJ 3630 doesn't have a warranty, despite turning up this morning.

I registered for Instant Ink, set up all the lovely features and then saw the admin password section. Set a password, tried logging in and belold it doesn't work.

I have tried resetting the network, tried setting it up on several different networks as I work in IT and not alien to this stuff and googled for factory resets.

Nothing worked. Now, is it possible for HP to remote reset the admin password in EWS or do I thow this heap of junk back at the Amazon seller and get something else that works, like a pen and paper instead? Maybe there's a special sequence of buttons to press which needs 4 hands?

I'm also in the UK.

***EDIT***

The resets I have done has changed the printer status report field ''Admin Password'' to say Not Set. However, HPACBC75 still asks for a password.  Admin, admin or ADMIN and an empty password box do not work, nor does the same with blank or BLANK inputted for the password. Leaving both fields blank also does nothing.

That's a shame it doesn't have any other means to reset a fauly password. I've even portforwarded it and got others to login externally.

I'll just write it off as experience and get myself something else. Thanks for helping anyway.

Hi @Steve_P2

Welcome to the HP Support Forum. It's a place where I regularly advise Instant Ink users on how to get more out of their printers and service.

I do see that you're up against an admin password issue in using your Deskjet 3630. I would like to help.

Restoring network defaults is the only fix I'm aware of. Did you do the following in your troubleshooting?:

Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button (X) from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

Once that's done, reconnect to the desired network. If you're still stuck with the password issue replacement (exchange) is the next logical fix. In that event you'll want to reach out to the Instant Ink team. You can click on the following link to initiate a case:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/product/HP-Instant-Ink-series/5264756/model/5401249#Z7_3054I...

Once you fill out the online form to create your case you can choose from different direct contact methods.

Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post. If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to say "You rock!" by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution.

Hi @

I have done that about 12 times. It does not work. I have stopped short of trying other methods i've discovered. I want to know what this hallowed semi full reset is. I see other similar issues where your colleagues have sent information via PM on how to do a semi full reset.

When I log into the EWS and try anything, the admin lock I placed appears there. HOWEVER, when I print an information page out from the printer, it says there's no password set. EWS is still locked tighter than information from HP is...

The printer thinks it's reset but the icons on EWS are all ''locked by admin''

As for the Instant Ink, I cancelled that. No intention reinstating it till the admin issue is reversed.

I wish I had a semi-full reset to provide, but this printer series doesn't have any other resets other than what you've tried, otherwise we would have gone that route right away.

HI,

I have the same issue. I keep reading there is no password to EWS but it is literally impossible to login. Still asking for username and password, no way to reset or print the password from any of the printer reports. Very frustrating indeed. none of the HP support guys has ever posted a straight answer. Did anyone find a solution to this?
