Hi,
When trying to access many of the sections of the Embedded Web Server of my OfficeJet 8720, I am prompted to enter a username and a password. I set this up in order to improve security. However, logging in has never worked. I keep getting locked out from incorrect credential attempts.
I have already tried multiple times to reset the network settings and I have even tried to the "Semi-Full Reset" from the hidden "Support" menu (multiple times as well). None of these things worked. I have also tried entering a username of "admin" and no password as some forum posts have suggested. None of these things are working. It seems to me that these resets should have removed the need for a password altogether.
I'm hoping someone here has an answer. I'm connecting via ethernet for what it's worth.

After a lot of additional searching, I finally came across a post on this forum had the working answer for my problem. Here's the solution that worked for me:
- Swipe down from the top of the touch screen and select the Gear icon
- Go to Printer Maintenance -> Restore -> Restore Factory Defaults
Searching this forum, it seems issues with resetting the admin password for the Embedded Web Server is a very common problem. Furthermore, it seems that things like restoring networking settings, which the prompt on the printer tells you will reset the password, do not work (at least for some people). There definitely appears to be a bug here that HP needs to fix. Hopefully this post will help others facing the same problem.
