Hi @Tinad2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

May I know if are you using instant ink cartridges to print? May I know if have you ever enrolled in Instant Ink before?

You will only get the above error if you are using instant ink cartridges for the printer which is not enrolled in instant ink.

It seems there might have been some confusion or a mix-up with your HP Envy 5000 series printer related to the HP Instant Ink service. However, you're not obligated to use HP Instant Ink to continue printing; it's an optional service. If you prefer to use your own cartridges or purchase them elsewhere, that's perfectly acceptable.

If your printer is not allowing you to print because it's asking you to enroll in HP Instant Ink, and you've already reset your printer, you might need to follow a few steps to clear this issue. Resetting your printer can sometimes cause it to forget previous Instant Ink settings, which could explain the error you're encountering. One solution provided by HP's support forum suggests re-enrolling your printer in Instant Ink temporarily to bypass this issue. It's mentioned that for some models, you don't need a printer claim code during setup, and the printer is automatically claimed to your account during the setup process through the HP Smart app. If the app is already installed, reinstalling it might help.

For those who decide to cancel their HP Instant Ink subscription, remember that any Instant Ink cartridges you have will stop working once the subscription ends. You'll need to replace them with standard cartridges purchased from a store. This is a documented feature of the Instant Ink service, emphasizing that the service is based on a subscription model where the provided cartridges only function as part of an active subscription.

Moreover, if you've already canceled your Instant Ink subscription and are looking to use your printer without it, you can certainly continue to use your printer by buying cartridges from a store as you've done in the past. The Instant Ink program is entirely optional, and not participating in it doesn't prevent your printer from functioning with regular cartridge

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
