HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer was working great until recently.  I tried to print something and the printer was showing as offline. I tried to get it back online in the usual manner and nothing happened.  When I try to power cycle it the power light lights up, the control panel shows the HP logo, and a line appears slowly from left to right under the logo, as if the printer is booting up.  One dot, then another light up under the line, then nothing.  I tried using the virtual assistant and went through all possible options and  nothing works.  HP Smart App shows it as offline, and when I click on the box there, it says the printer needs to be turned on to be added to HP Smart.  Please help--I'd very much not prefer to create more landfill if there's a solution to the problem!

Hi @TAPANY,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

If the issue persists, then we need to perform a Semi full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings. The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
