I was assured by Currys that this printer would work fine with Mac OS Big Sur -- but I don''t think it does.  Can't open HP Smart software at all, so the wireless facility is effectively useless.....  is there a way round it?

Yes, HP Smart is fully compatible with Big Sur.

Have you tried reinstalling the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store?

What happens when you try opening HP Smart? what exact error message or behavior is shown?

Thanks for the advice.  I have tried many times, including uninstalling and then starting again.  When I try to open the HP Smart software, something comes onto the screen for a fraction of a second and then it disappears.  The icon is there in the apps, but that's all.....

The computer will still not accept the software, so it's not true that Mac OS Big Sur is fully compatible with HP Smart.  But once the printer is fully functioning by installing HP Smart on another appliance such as an iPad, and once the Wifi link is established on the printer (blue Wifi light on the printer glowing steadily) it is possible to use the printer using Airprint. Printing is OK, but for using the scanner I found that a USB cable is still needed, so there is not full functionality.

It's a nice little printer, but HP needs to get its act together and ensure that the software for HP Smart is compatible with Big Sur.
