Envy photo 7120 stuck on boot screen. Hence it won't connect to my home PC network. I've tried the typical solutions but none work. Is there anything I can do to fix this (other than buy a canon printer)?

@mcmidas,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP Envy Photo 7120 is stuck on the boot screen and won't connect to your network, you've likely tried the basic solutions like restarting and unplugging. Here are some advanced troubleshooting steps that might help.

Perform a Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  4. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Try a Forced Firmware Recovery

If the printer is stuck on boot, the firmware may be corrupted. You can attempt a forced update:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Back buttons (or any combination mentioned in the HP support documents for your model).
  3. While holding, turn the printer on and keep holding for 10-15 seconds until the recovery mode screen appears.
  4. If it enters recovery mode, use HP's firmware update tool on your PC to reinstall the firmware.
    • Download it from HP’s support website: HP Software & Drivers
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • If the printer makes unusual noises or the screen flickers, it could be a hardware failure.
  • If there's an SD card inserted, remove it and restart the printer.
  • Disconnect any USB cables and only use power.

Hard Reset (NVRAM Reset)

If the issue persists, a hard reset might help:

  1. Unplug the power cord without turning off the printer.
  2. Hold the Power and Resume (or Wi-Fi) buttons together for 15 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back in while holding the buttons.
  4. Release the buttons once the printer starts.

Factory Reset via Hidden Menu

If you can get into any menu:

  1. Press Back (◀) button 4 times to enter the hidden Support Menu.
  2. Navigate to Resets > Semi-full Reset.
  3. Confirm and let the printer restart.

Warning: A semi-full reset will erase network settings, preferences, and stored faxes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
