my brand new laptop does not recognize my printer...but it works perfect when connected to my old laptop. I have done all of the recommended "help" and "suggested" fixes but none of them have worked.

HI @Tbspedteacher,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your brand new HP Envy x360 laptop isn’t recognizing your printer, but the printer works fine with your old laptop, here’s a structured approach to resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Printer is Set Up Correctly

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off your printer and laptop. Unplug the printer from the power source for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. Restart your laptop.

Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the same network as your new laptop if it's a wireless printer. If it’s a wired printer, make sure the USB cable is securely connected.

2. Verify Printer Settings and Connection

Network Printer:

  • If the printer is networked, ensure it's connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Print a network configuration page from the printer to check the connection status.

USB Printer:

  • For USB-connected printers, try a different USB port on your laptop. Test with another USB cable if available.

3. Update Printer Drivers

Download Latest Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11.

Install Drivers:

  • Run the downloaded driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Update Windows:

  • Ensure Windows 11 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

4. Add Printer Manually

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner. Wait for Windows to search for available printers. If your printer appears, select it and follow the instructions to add it.
  • If the printer doesn’t show up, you can add it manually using its IP address:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer or scanner.
    • Click The printer that I want isn’t listed.
    • Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
    • Enter the printer’s IP address and follow the instructions to complete the setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
