The error 0x80004005 with the message "Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem" typically indicates a software or driver issue, often after a Windows update or printer setup problem. Let's walk through the steps to resolve it:

Restart Printer and PC

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Restart your computer.
  • After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in and power it on.

Check Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
  • Restart your PC after updates.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

Use HP Smart App for Setup

  • Download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store or HP Smart App page. HP Smart
  • Use it to add and configure your printer. It also includes a Diagnose & Fix tool.

Firmware Update (if applicable)

  • If prompted, update the printer firmware via HP Smart or the support page above.
  • Firmware updates often resolve unexpected configuration errors.
