HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I used PCmover (Laplink) to migrate files from an old HP Pavilion laptop (Window 8 upgraded to Win 10) to a new HP ENVY laptop (came with Win 11 installed).

5255 Printer was working OK on Pavilion (Win 10) but after quite a struggle, and a lot of time on ENVY, I thought I'd finally gotten the 5255 working correctly.

However about 30 minutes later, up popped Error Code 0xb3d71a2b -- the first code I've been able to find doing a Web Search.  Have seen several other codes that search did not find.

It was after the transfer of files that I began see Error Codes using the 5255 Printer with Windows 11.

Today, the 5255 Prints & Scans OK and is OK according to HP Print & Scan Doctor.

Today I’ve successfully scanned a document to PDF.  But as I was typing these observations, preparing to send a Test eMail document from Outlook, Error Code 0xb3d2da2b appeared.

Held down Power Button about 10 seconds.  5255 restarted.  Screen appears normal.  Email document printed.

QUESTION:  Is there an issue with HP 5255 Printer Software and Windows 11 software that is causing Error Codes?

My HP Officejet 5255 and HP ENVY software are up to date.

Thank you for your reply.

I was UNABLE to find a procedure/software to COMPLETLY UNINSTALL HP Printer software.  However, I was finally able to resolve the issue AFTER I found the following website & was able to COMPLETELY UNINSTALL the HP Printer Software:

Hi @SJB-MD,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xb3d71a2b on your HP OfficeJet 5255 All-In-One printer indicates a problem with the printer's firmware. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

  • Restart your printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Update firmware: Check if there is any firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. If yes, download and install the update following the instructions provided.
  • Reset printer: Try resetting your printer to its default settings. Press and hold the Power button on your printer for about 10 seconds until it turns off. Release the button and turn it back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
