Printer Installation and Setup Troubleshooting Error code : EBS00P0004

 

HP DeskJet 3634 (the HP Smart app detects it as "HP DeskJet 3630 series" though) , No touchscreen panel

Installing on Apple MacBook Pro laptop and Apple iMac desktop

macOS: Ventura 13.1 (just did a software update yesterday)

 

I have a VERY old printer (warranty expired in 2018, if that tells you anything) that I've had since college and has moved with me from several apartments to our new house. Always had issues connecting it to my wifi, but eventually was able to figure it out... UNTIL NOW.

 

We've been in this house for over a year and the printer worked just fine. Then recently we changed internet providers (kept the same Wifi name and password) and now I can't get the **bleep** thing to reconnect. I've tried everything. These are the steps I've tried:

 

  • Unplug printer from wall outlet, then replug back in
  • Turn on printer
  • Hold the Cancel button and Wifi/Wireless button at the same time until the blue wireless light flashes repeatedly
  • Followed the Setup instructions on the HP Smart app
  • Was able to get to the screen that says "Printer connected to Wi-Fi. Let's continue our guided setup!" then clicked the Continue button
  • That screen shows the spinning loading icon for forever, then the entire screen goes white for a while, then an error box pops up. That screen says:

"We're sorry, something went wrong

We're having a technical issue with your HP Smart setup session. We weren't able to resolve the issue and can't finish printer setup right now.

Exit setup and try again later to resolve this issue. If you continue to have issues setting up, contact HP Support.

(Error code : EBS00P0004)" with a button that says "Exit Setup".

 

I've tried this setup process through the HP Smart app several times, waiting an hour or so in between attempts.

I've done a factory reset on the printer.

I've let it sit overnight and tried again to no avail.

I've even tried setting it up through the HP Easy Start app, which is how I've always done the setup process in the past with this printer. 

 

NOTHING IS WORKING AND I'M GETTING ZERO ANSWERS. Please help.
