Hi @Pam1212,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Printhead not detected or missing" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 typically indicates an issue with the printhead or its connection to the printer. Here are some steps to resolve this.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.

Remove and Reseat the Printhead

  • Open the printer’s cover to access the printhead.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Lift the latch on the printhead to remove it.
  • Reinsert the printhead carefully, ensuring it is properly seated.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges.

Clean the Printhead Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Carefully remove the printhead as described in the previous step.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer.
  • Let the contacts dry for about 10 minutes before reinserting.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP’s official website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the firmware using the HP Smart app or the printer’s settings.

Reset the Printer

  • Go to the printer's settings.
  • Find the Restore Factory Defaults option (under "Settings" > "Restore Defaults").
  • Confirm the reset.

Replace the Printhead

If the issue persists after reseating and cleaning, the printhead may be faulty. You can try purchasing a replacement printhead from HP or authorized sellers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
