Sorry forgot how to use this site, but here goes. My 250 mobile AIO hasn’t been plugged in for 3 years, now I need it. Plugged it in and an error message appeared: “BATTERY FAULTY”. Fine so it hasn’t been plugged in to charge it …that’s my fault (?) and it’s now costing me $100 (1/3 cost of replacing entire printer, unbelievable) Well, my understanding is that the battery is used by printer when I don’t have access to electricity (hence the name “mobile”), but I thought if it is plugged into a computer it should bypass the battery and work through the computer—how could I have been so wrong all these years??? So I had to find a printer cable which I haven’t used in years and all ten were in box in back of closet LOL. Then I connected it to my Hp envy laptop thinking error message would go away so I can try to set printer up again and check everything out before my trip and while I order new battery. Right! Hours later what I thought would be a simple process turned to BAD and EXPENSIVE immediately, and I’ve reached the limit of my knowledge. So far that’s as far as I can proceed, until an expert helps me. I’m 79 so please be detailed (and patient)! BTW also need info to easily connect to iPad. Thanks for your help.

Hi @NanaVW1945,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that your Printer is not powering on.
- Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain on the printer.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall outlet directly, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
- Update the printer firmware by clicking on this link if the printer turns on.
- If the issue still persists, try with an alternate power cable that is compatible with your printer.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
