Hi @CAD83,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m sorry you’re running into this issue. Ink errors can be frustrating, especially when they prevent the printer from working at all.

To help you accurately, I need to confirm one detail first:

Could you please confirm the exact printer type?

The HP 6700 is typically an HP OfficeJet 6700 All-in-One Wireless (inkjet), but I want to be sure.
(It is not a LaserJet model.)

In the meantime, please try these basic troubleshooting steps (safe and recommended):

1. Power reset

  1. Turn the printer ON
  2. Remove the power cord from the back of the printer
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet
  4. Wait 60 seconds
  5. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet
  6. Turn the printer back on

2. Reseat the ink cartridges

  1. Open the ink access door
  2. Remove all cartridges
  3. Check that:
    • Orange protective tape is fully removed
    • Cartridges are genuine HP (HP 932/933 for most 6700 models)
  4. Reinsert each cartridge firmly until it clicks into place
  5. Close the ink access door

3. Clean cartridge contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water
  • Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the carriage
  • Let everything dry for 5 minutes before reinstalling

4. Check cartridge compatibility

  • Make sure the cartridges match your region and printer model
(e.g., HP 932/933 vs. regional variants)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
