HP 3830 printer

I  was trying to fax a document using my HP3830 all in one printer, I followed the instructions then press send FAX, I hear touch-tone sounds dialing the number follows by intermittent beep sound like my printer it is trying to connect but after a while stops then page prints stating it could not connect.  I have confirmed the FAX number by using my cell phone calling the FAX number and hearing FAX signals. My printer is connected to the web by a DSL line and modem and software updated to the latest version. I was wondering do I need additional hardware to FAX with this printer. Thank you

@foxx74, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Make sure you are using a 2-wire phone cable that came with the printer, connect one end to 1-line port at the back of the printer, and the other end to the telephone jack.

 

Kindly refer to this document to know how to setup fax. 

 

Run a fax test on the printer

Go to Fax > Setup > Tools > Run fax test.

 

You may try sending a fax to HP to test its functionality.

Refer to this document to know how.
