Factory Rest for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3636 EWS
Hello.I set up my 3636 printer and added a custom password for the Embedded Web Server (EWS). And then I lost it. I changed my PC since then, and now I'm trying to set up my printer on a new computer. But when I try, I'm told to write my EWS password to proceed, which I do not have, so I cannot set up my printer.
- Pressing Cancel and Wireless does nothing as far as I'm aware, I'm still asked for the password.
- The password is not 1234567 or Admin or blank or any default, I've tried them all (and it makes sense that it isn't, since I changed it myself back then).
- The password doesn't appear when I print any network status page of any kind.
So, my question is: how can I reset the EWS password and/or hard-reset my DeskJet 3636 printer? Thanks.

Hi @Raghav13,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are not able to make changes to the settings on the printer. We need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.
- The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
