HP Photosmart D110
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP printer D110 that prints wirelessly from my tablet and my phone, but does not print or scan from my laptop windows 7 (64-bit).  After uninstalling and re-installing from the original CD and unistalling again to install it  from the software downloaded from HP website, the same error shows up:

HP Print and Scan Dr 5.1 is not of help.

I need to recover the function of scanning, since printing can be done from another source.

Thank you for your help.

@Printeruser8,

Thank you for posting this on HP Support Forums!

I see from your post that you're having issues while printing from your computer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

I would suggest you run the Windows update troubleshooter.

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

I suggest you uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them by following the below steps:

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I followed every step you recommended. However, the installation process does not recognize my device is connected via USB. When I try a wireless connection with a disconnected VPN, a dialogue box shows up advising the printer could no be found on my wireless network. I ran HP print and Scan Doctor 5.1 with the usb cable connected and it printed a test page.

 Any idea?

@Printeruser8,

I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Check http://hp.care/2nxKJv8 for additional instructions.

If the issue persists, as suggested uninstall the printer and then create a new user account.

Try to create a new local user and then try to install the printer. Follow the steps here to create a local account on your PC: Click here

Now, login to the new account and then try to install the printer and check.

Let me know how it goes and have a great day ahead!

Regards,
