Hi @Sager4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP OfficeJet 200 has a faulty or non-working battery. Let’s go through a few steps to check whether the issue is with the battery itself or the printer’s power system.
Confirm the battery symptoms
Check whether the printer:
Does not power on using battery
Powers off quickly
Shows a battery error or does not charge
This helps distinguish between a dead battery and a charging issue.
Test with AC power only
Remove the battery from the printer.
Connect the power adapter directly and turn the printer on to confirm it works normally on AC power.
Inspect the battery contacts
Remove the battery and check the metal contacts on both the battery and printer.
Look for dust, ink residue, or corrosion that could block charging or detection.
Clean the battery contacts
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the contacts.
Reinsert the battery firmly until it clicks into place.
Check charging behavior
Plug in the power adapter with the battery installed.
Allow the printer to charge for at least 90 minutes, then check if the battery indicator changes.
Perform a power reset
With the printer powered ON:
Remove the battery
Unplug the power adapter
Wait 60 seconds
Reconnect the power adapter (without battery) and turn the printer on
After it starts, power it off, reinstall the battery, then plug the adapter back in.
Verify correct battery model
Ensure the battery is the correct HP OfficeJet 200 battery model.
Incompatible or third-party batteries may not charge or be detected correctly.
Check printer firmware
Outdated firmware can affect battery recognition and charging logic.
Update the firmware using HP Smart or the printer menu while connected to AC power.
I hope this helps.
