HP Envy 5030
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Hi,

I´m on MacOsX 10.13.6 on a Mid2011 MacMini trying to print on an HP ENVY 5030 Inkjet printer.

Tried printing from different Apps: Open Office, Preview, pdf...

  • After starting the printjob the printing cue window says: "Filter Failed" and doesn´t print

Here is what I tried:

  • flashed the Firmware on the HP Envy 5030
  • Reinstalled the drivers multiple times (by System/Printers&Scanners/ Right Click / "Reset Printsystem" = blew out ALL Printers and Scanners) using the drivers from the HP site
  • Repaired Permissions on the disk using MacOSX diskutility
  • enabled Printersharing
  • Installed Printer as Network printer and tried to print via WLAN = I can see the printer and access it via the browser page but still get the same "Filter Failed" Error
  • Wiped everything and reconnected the printer so it could get the drivers from the apple site = still "Filter Failed"

After surfing the forum it seems to be a driver issue with hp???

Best workaround so far: after installing the Printer as "Generic PCL Printer" I can at least print in black and white. Which kinda defeats the purpose since it´s a color printer...

Your help is appreciated,
