Hi,
I´m on MacOsX 10.13.6 on a Mid2011 MacMini trying to print on an HP ENVY 5030 Inkjet printer.
Tried printing from different Apps: Open Office, Preview, pdf...
- After starting the printjob the printing cue window says: "Filter Failed" and doesn´t print
Here is what I tried:
- flashed the Firmware on the HP Envy 5030
- Reinstalled the drivers multiple times (by System/Printers&Scanners/ Right Click / "Reset Printsystem" = blew out ALL Printers and Scanners) using the drivers from the HP site
- Repaired Permissions on the disk using MacOSX diskutility
- enabled Printersharing
- Installed Printer as Network printer and tried to print via WLAN = I can see the printer and access it via the browser page but still get the same "Filter Failed" Error
- Wiped everything and reconnected the printer so it could get the drivers from the apple site = still "Filter Failed"
After surfing the forum it seems to be a driver issue with hp???
Best workaround so far: after installing the Printer as "Generic PCL Printer" I can at least print in black and white. Which kinda defeats the purpose since it´s a color printer...
Your help is appreciated,
Struwwwelpeter

@Struwwwelpeter, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I'd recommend you uninstall the existing HP printer software on your computer. Refer to the document HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac) for help.
Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:
Remove and add the printer
Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.
Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.
Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign , and then delete the printer.
Click Add to add the printer to the list.
Try to print.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
