Hi @Debbie0212
Garp_senchau is away for now; however, I'm Hawks_Eye, and I'll be happy to help you out!
That’s an interesting discovery! Since the printer installed successfully via your phone’s hotspot but ran into issues when switching back to your regular network, it’s possible that network setting is interfering with the installation.
Possible Causes & Fixes:
Remove Old Printer Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Print Queues and Printers, then uninstall any old HP printer drivers.
- Restart your laptop and reinstall the printer.
Reset Network Settings
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset - Restart your laptop and try reconnecting the printer.
Since your printer works fine on a different network, the issue likely lies within your local network settings or cached printer data.
Let me know if any of these steps help!
Regards,
Hawks_Eye

Hello - thank you. I did try one last thing - - I connected my printer and laptop to my phone's hotspot and I was able to successfully install the printer. I switched them back to my network and ran into the same issue. Could there be some registry file somewhere on my network or laptop that's causing the laptop to think the printer is already installed?

Hi Hawks_Eye!
Your guidance sorta helped! I saw that I could install from the Device Manager, so I tried it and that worked! I can finally print from my laptop to the printer without having to have them tethered to my phone.
Thank you guys for putting up with my questions and issue - - I knew there had to be some way around it, just didn't know what to do.
Much appreciated!!!
Debbie
