MacOS 10.14 Mojave. LaserJet 1536dnf MFP. I've tried to update the firmware every way possible, but it doesn't seem to want to update. I ran the Easy Start utility, which claimed it was going to update the firmware, and seemed to take enough time to do so, but the firmware version stayed the same, though it did seem to update everything else. Rebooting the printer was no help. Firmware still reads as 20111215, when it should update to 20140630 according to the firmware files on the web page. Trying to download just the firmware resulted in a new tab full of computer gibberish (using Safari), and an RFU file that I can't open downloaded using Firefox. Any help is appreciated.

@Fangs24, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Download and update the printer firmware from here.
Alternatively, you can try installing the update using HP Smart App. Here is how you do it:
Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer, smartphone, or tablet if you have not already installed it.HP Smart is available for certain printers through 123.hp.com. Go to Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for more information.
-
After completing the printer setup, click or tap your printer name.
-
Under Advanced, select Printer Home Page (EWS) or Advanced Settings.
-
Click or tap Tools or Web Services.
-
Click or tap Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click or tap Check Now.
Hope this helps!
