My 8625 printer worked just fine since I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago. On Sept. 13th it quit. The error message says "One or more ink cartridges is damaged. Remove and replace with new cartridge." I get refilled cartridges from Cartridge World that work perfectly fine, so this was a bit of a surprise.
Apparently, HP sneaked in a firmware update when I wasn't looking and rendered $100 worth of ink useless, and the update can't be rolled back as far as I can tell. I feel raped. If HP wants me to pay for their own proprietary ink, just tell me when I buy the printer, don't spring it on me suddenly in the dark of night and rip me off for perfectly good ink I bought far and square from a reputable company. This is how HP treats its customers? Really?? I will never buy an HP product again.
Beware: If you have Automatic Updates enabled in Settings, they will do it to you too.
