HP support says there is a firmware upgrade. I go through the download procedure then a dialogue box opens to select the device. I select the printer but the Next or Continue button does not illuminate and remains greyed out so that the upgrade does not procede.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the firmware update issue. 

 

Let's try these steps to perform a printer reset - 

 

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds. 

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

 

Connect a USB cable from the computer to your printer. Download and install the firmware update for Win 10 (64-bit) from this link.
