Can you help?  I have the same issue as the previous memeber:  forgot username and PW for my officejet 8610 and need to reset.

Thanks!

@ATD817

Welcome to the HP Forums,

We'll be with you until it's all sorted & beyond!

Are you referring to the EWS page that's locked or the printer operations?

Did you attempt to reset the EWS page?

Have you reset the network or printer defaults to resolve the issue?

While you respond to that, here's what I suggest you do:

Open the EWS and reset the password

  1. Open a web browser and type the printer IP address in the address field exactly as it appears on the Configuration Page,  and then press Enter.

  2. Click the Security tab, and under General Security, set the local administrator password.

    1. Keep the username default as admin.

    2. Type the New Password and Verify Password.

    3. Navigate to the bottom of the page and click Apply.

Use these credentials the next time you Log In to the EWS.

If the issue persists, try the below steps:

The printer cannot be connected to a network. Use these steps to reset the printer settings to re-establish a network connection.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon  .

  2. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

  3. Touch Restore and then touch Restore Factory Default.

  4. Touch Continue on the confirmation message.

  5. Wait until factory defaults are restored and the printer restarts.

  6. Read and respond to the setup screens to set up the printer.

If the issue persists, refer to my private message for further instructions:

I hate to bring up a solved problem but the solution was in a private message to a user.  I have forgotten the ID and password for my Officejet Pro 8610 (HP64C55B).  I connected to the web page, as suggested, but there is no Security tab.  Every task on the web page is locked and when attempting to enable SMART, this too is locked.  I see factory defaults on the printer screen but I don't know what the default would be either.  I've tried the user manual, which is extensive, but I can't find any help there.  If I can reset the default and login, I assume I can change these default settings.
