LaserJet Pro MFP M28w

Hi there,

as I had to learn on this thread, HP makes a great secret out of doing a simple factory reset (claiming that their products will break if the wrong reset method is used... which begs the question why products aren't designed in a more robust manner in the first place).

So here I am, the n-th person waiting obediently for a private message that will hopefully let me in on the arcane secrets of doing a factory reset on an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w for which its owner has lost both the admin password and the wifi access password.

Yargh.

Hi @Yargh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your LaserJet Pro MFP M28w. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

We need to perform a Semi full reset to clear the admin password. The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. We say this because each software is different because some printers have displays and some do not. The coding would be different for each product.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
