Color LaserJet Pro MFP M181fw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If it is true that my printer Colour LaserJet Pro MFP M181fw cannot downgrade its firmware, then please assist in getting the generic ink cartridges to work.

I can't find downgraded firmware which seems to be the only solution online to get generic toners to work. I've tried all settings related hereto.

Hi @epienaar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

I understand you are unable to use the generic inks and downgrade the printer's firmware.

HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. HP recommends using genuine HP ink or toner supplies available from the HP Store

Go to HP Anti Counterfeiting and Fraud Program for more information on using authentic HP cartridges.

If the error displays with genuine HP cartridges, select No, OK, or Continue. If the print job completes, the issue is resolved but you might need to dismiss the message every time you print until the cartridges are depleted. Otherwise, continue with these steps to resolve the issue.
