Office Jet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I open the 'HP OfficeJet 3830 series (Network)  : HP Printer Assistant', I get the exception code OxeO6d7363. The first time I tried to open the Set Preferences, it opened ok but when I tried to open the  Set Preferences again, I got the exception code. After that, it won't even open the Set Preferences again. I have two machines connected to the printer and both have the same problem.

thanks

@DBergert

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thanks. I  did as suggested and still not printing. I uninstalled and reinstalled again for about the 5th time and after the last reinstall using 123.hp.com/oj3830, the software said everything was fine, connected and working. However, that was not correct. Downloaded 'HP Print and Scan Doctor' and ran it. Said everything was fine and print a test page. Still wouldn't print. Ran it again and after the second time it is now printing finally.

The next issue however is that when I try to open the application on my desktop labeled 'HP Officejet 3830 Series' which is where all the settings etc. are I believe, I get a screen 'Device Setup and Software' where it thinks I need to install a printer.

How do I get to the Setting screens to setup what i want for my  drfaults?

Thanks

Try using the HP Smart App  instead: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142
