I have an older c p 1518 printer that is connected to my network windows eleven

I HP smart detects my printer but does not allow me to print.I have updated the driver's downloaded driver's restarted system and done everything that has been suggested however No luck. I originally thought I was doing something wrong But.  When I downloaded a different app. It printed flawlessly, which leads me to believe HP smart is the problem.

Even though this new app works, I would like to use h. P smart as this is what my family is used to and there is no apple version of this app.

@TheRodRR8, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

t seems your HP Color LaserJet CP1518 printer is detected by the HP Smart app on Windows 11 but doesn't print, even though it works with other apps. This suggests a compatibility or configuration issue with HP Smart specifically.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve this:

Uninstall and Reinstall HP Smart and Printer Drivers

Uninstall HP Smart and Printer Drivers:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  • Uninstall HP Smart and any HP printer drivers listed.
  • Restart your PC.

Reinstall HP Smart:

  • Download the latest version from the Microsoft Store.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Visit 123.hp.com and enter your printer model (CP1518).
  • Download and install the recommended full-feature driver package.

Reset Printer Network Settings

If the printer is on Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer, restore network settings:
    • Navigate to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Ensure your PC and printer are on the same network.

Add Printer Manually in HP Smart

  1. Open HP Smart.
  2. Click “+ Add Printer”.
  3. If it appears but doesn’t work, remove it and re-add it.
  4. If prompted, sign in with your HP account.

Check Windows Print Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer > Remove device.
  3. Click Add device and let Windows detect it again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
