HP 2827e PRINTER IS A JOKE!

I have had problems with the HP2827e All in One Printer since I bought it.   It stopped printing via WI-FI. I discovered our WI-FI is 5ghz and it needs to be 2.4.  Not sure if you can show both or how the printer will know which one to select.  I attached a USB cable and it worked for awhile and now it won't print with that either!!   I have looked online and tried ALL the troubleshooting videos.  I'm ready to throw it in the trash and go find a different brand that is simpler to use.

True -- The 2800e printers are entry level printers -- they do include limitations.

True -- "Everything" is a lot -- At some point you run out of things you want to try.

Finally -- 

Yes, when you have exhausted all you are willing to do, it is time to consider a replacement. 

We do not judge what people decide.

-- Start -- Perhaps something new -- perhaps more of the same...

One of the limitations on these printers is the requirement for 2.4GHz Wireless -- No, the printer cannot choose.

Should the option be available to you, create a separate SSID network on your router for each frequency and connect the printer to the SSID named network for 2.4GHz.

The printer will do better with an assigned (static / manual) IP address -- manual IP address assignment is not a "printer thing" -- Using assigned IP addresses does help a device find its way back onto the network should the connection fail for any reason.

True -- Neither HP App nor its predecessor the HP Smart application do well in a USB only connection environment.   At the least, consider using Wi-Di Direct (limited Wireless).

-- Windows --

Should Wireless simply not be an option for whatever reason, consider installing the full driver printer software.  The full driver will tolerate a USB only environment.  The software comes with HP Scan software.  Ask if you need help.

Windows applications, those built into the OS, might tolerate (or be quite happy) with a USB only environment.

Offline Condition

Although the printer appears to be switched on, it does not communicate with other devices on your network.

What you do to correct the issue depends on the underlying cause.

Consider >> Restart All

Restart Everything, including the router that controls your network

If your printer is assigned a manual / static IP address it is better able to find its way back onto the network.

Select and connect to the correct SSID / network name for the bandwidth you are using.

Notes

• If your browser security will not allow you to open EWS, try a different browser.
• It is not mandatory that you use a manual / static IP address.  Doing so can improve stability.
• If you assign a manual / static address on the printer, update your router to reflect the assigned IP address.
• EWS sections might be locked and require the printer’s PIN number to access.  Find the printer’s default PIN inside the ink cartridge ink cartridge / area, or perhaps on the bottom or back of the printer.  Check your printer’s User Guide first chapter for details – search the document for “ PIN “.

Printer - DeskJet Margins, Borderless, Duplex Printing

The following is relevant to using a DeskJet Printer, even the model that includes the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

Reminder

At this writing, DeskJet printers require a larger margin along the bottom edge --

12.7mm (1/2 inch)

Duplex Print Options

Manual (driver support provided)

and

Borderless Printing

No

Print Margin Bottom (A4)	12.7 mm
Print Margin Left (A4)	3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4)	3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4)	3 mm

The margin limitation is mechanical.

There is no software, firmware, or alignment that changes the larger margin requirement.

The general solution to prevent chopped content is to keep all data inside of 12.7mm (1/2 inch) on the bottom edge, including all page numbers, footer information, or other notations.
