I have tried all options, including via Wi-Fi installations, nothing works.
I have read far too many posts on the matter, but nothing helps, as always when I am reaching the point of 'Page Print' - I do get the error meg: couldn't print.
Any ideas?
Win 10 64bit.

Hi @DavidLiverUK,
Thank you for your response,
Let's go through some additional ones to see if we can resolve the issue with your HP 3600dn printer not printing in color.
- Check Printer Settings: Confirm that the printer settings on your computer are correctly set to allow color printing. Sometimes, printers can default to grayscale or black and white settings.
- Printer Driver: Ensure that you have the correct printer driver installed on your computer. Sometimes, using the wrong driver can result in limited functionality, such as only printing in black and white.
- Test Page: Print a test page directly from the printer to see if the issue is with the printer itself or with the connection to your computer. If the test page prints in color, the issue likely lies with the settings on your computer.
- Update Printer Driver: Check for any available updates for your printer driver. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues or limit functionality.
- Reinstall Printer Driver: If updating the driver doesn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver on your computer. This can sometimes fix driver-related issues.
- Check Cartridges: Even though you've mentioned the cartridges are full, double-check to ensure they are installed correctly and that there are no obstructions or damage to the cartridges that might be preventing color ink from flowing properly.
- Printer Settings Menu: Access the printer settings directly from the printer's control panel or menu. Ensure that color printing is enabled and that there are no settings restricting color printing.
- Paper Type and Quality: Make sure the paper you are using supports color printing and that it is loaded correctly in the printer tray. Additionally, check the printer settings to ensure they are compatible with the paper type you're using.
- Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can address printing issues and improve overall performance.
By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing your HP 3600dn printer from printing in color.

Hi @DavidLiverUK,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Having trouble getting your HP 3600dn printer recognized by your PC can be frustrating, but let's troubleshoot this step by step. Here are some suggestions.
- Check Connections: Ensure that all cables are properly connected between your printer and your PC. If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your PC.
- Install Latest Drivers: Go to the official HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP 3600dn printer. Sometimes, the drivers that come with the printer might be outdated, causing compatibility issues with newer operating systems like Windows 10.
- Printer Queue: Sometimes, print jobs can get stuck in the print queue, preventing new jobs from being processed. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, then right-click o. your printer and select "See what's printing". If there are any pending print jobs, cancel them and try printing again.
- Printer Troubleshooter: Windows 10 has a built-in printer troubleshooter that can automatically detect and fix printing problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, then select "Printer" and run the troubleshooter.
- Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block communication between your PC and the printer. Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software and try printing again to see if it resolves the issue.
- Printer Spooler Service: Make sure that the Printer Spooler service is running on your PC. Press Win + R, type "services.msc", and press Enter. Locate the "Print Spooler" service, right-click on it, and select "Start" if it's not already running.
- Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer on your PC. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select "Remove device". Then, reinstall the printer using the latest drivers downloaded from the HP website.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and get your HP 3600dn printer recognized by your PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Alden for your support.
I have followed everything you have suggested before I have posted my request, Nevertheless, somehow (?) I have managed to install the printer but now although I have checked and followed every detail - the printer does not print colour only black and white. the cartridges are all full. The Color Option is marked as Automatic...
Extremely frustrating.
