HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After two years, my 3830 stopped working yesterday.  I can't get it to print.  I deleted the printer in Control Panel, under Printers & scanners, and then reinstalled it using the "Add a printer or scanner" function.  That added the printer, but under the name of that printer, that page says "Driver not available."  That's after I had reinstalled the printer driver listed on the HP Web site.  I've also tried and have reinstalled HP Smart.  But when I try to print, I get an error message, without identifying the error by number, and the print job shows up in my print queue, listing the file and stating that there was an error in printing.  I can't figure out how to solve this problem.

@Denver4, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

To assist you better, did you reinstall the HP Smart app?

Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

Check for any pending Windows updates first.

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
