HP 4520 has stopped printing from Mac and PC. Installed new cartridge, didn't fix it.  Could the new cartridge be bad?

@jpwats1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY 4520 has stopped printing from both your Mac and PC, even after installing a new cartridge. Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot and get your printer working again.

Check Printer Status

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac and PC.
  • On the printer's control panel, go to Wireless > Settings > Print Reports > Wireless Test Report to confirm network connectivity.

Check for Error Messages

  • Look at the printer display for any error messages (e.g., “Cartridge Problem” or “Printhead Missing”).
  • If you see any, try removing and reinstalling the cartridges. Make sure they are genuine HP cartridges.

Reset the Printing System (Mac)

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
  • Re-add your HP ENVY 4520 by clicking the + button.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

Try a Test Print

  • After reinstalling, try printing a test page from both devices.

Check the Cartridge

  • It’s possible the new cartridge is defective. Try the old cartridge if available, or test with another new one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
