Another failure here.
My printer is wireless on a home network, and worked fine up to the 1809 upgrade. Then over a period of a few months, as more 1809 updates arrived, it began to fail intermittently, and now does not work at all.
It works on Windows 7 Pro x64.
I can scan. The internal test print works from my laptop.
I have followed the step by step directions from HP several times. Don't see a reason to try again. I saw a reference here to using some Windows default drivers, but no instructions for how to install them.
Why does the HP 5740 show up as hpf6721b, when I can't find a link to this printer, and web searches make it look like a virus? I am very careful, and have downloaded only from the HP website, and used only the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
I have tried to completely remove all related HP drivers and programs, but there is one driver that won't remove because it is in use.

...and it looks like there are dozens of files associated with it. (Dependent files)
